Do you love the idea of being able to walk to great restaurants and shopping? But hate the idea of your friends having to pay for a parking space when they come visit you? Then you need to check out the Argyll Flats building in the Highlands neighborhood! Argyll Flats is located at Lowell Blvd. and 33rd and is just 1 block from many great restaurants and boutique shopping at Highlands Square! One of my favorites in Mead Street Station which is a great little pub with great food and live music 6 days a week. And they have some great bands playing there and it’s always a fun atmosphere. I also recommend Sushi Hai for some great sushi! If you’re in the mood for a little shopping, check out the Perfect Petal for really unique items for your home, garden or your bathtub! It’s usually the place I go when looking for a unique gift for a friend.

So that I’ve told you a few great things about the neighborhood, let me tell you about the Argyll Flats, which is a very easy walk to all of the great restaurants and shops! The condos are all unique and beautifully constructed with open floorplans, hardwood floors and lots of light! The kitchens have granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances and most of the condos have at least 1 balcony. There is also a parking garage and plenty of storage too! It’s not a large building so if you see one of these for sale, you definitely need to check it out!

The intersection of 32nd & Zuni has been congested lately (4/23/08) due to the construction of a new residential development at 3131 Zuni St. I drive by the zone on the daily and can’t believe how efficient the construction crew is?! They are really making progress on the 3-story building that is scheduled to be complete early 2009. The units have soaring 20-30 foot ceilings and walls of windows. The design is fluid and open which expands into the outdoor living spaces.

The two-bed/two-bath units are around 1550 square feet with two reserved garage spaces, current pricing is upper $400′s. Penthouse unit boast one-floor living, no stairs and a private elevator entrance will zip you home, sweet, home. These 3-bedroom, 3-bath units have a generous 2500 square feet and are currently priced in the mid-$700′s. There are no models to look at yet but at the rate they are building perhaps we’ll see some by the end of the summer.

Should you be interested in seeing more than just the construction site there are additional renderings of both the exterior and interior ready. The units are available at pre-completion pricing.

Lola is a newer addition to the sparky Lower Highland area, LoHi, which sits on the hill to the immediate west of LoDo. The restaurant is coastal Mexican flare boasting a mere 125 varieties of tequila. The open-air patio has an unbelievable view of Denver’s cityscape and the menu is fresh, innovative and reasonably priced. Executive Chef Jamey Fader will take your palate on a Mexican taste adventure while your tequila ambassador will navigate you through the labyrinth of 125 tequila varieties.

 Three things to try:

• Guacamole~made table-side
• Coin-style marg~key limes,tequila, citronge
• Hash~Grilled chorizo, sweet potatoes & onions

Is your mouth watering yet? Complete the experience by checking the place out Sunday afternoon (2-5 pm) for live music-hip shakin’ Latin beats and other local sounds. Sunday brings you an incredible brunch menu or try the family-style paella. Sip your delectable marg or mojito while enjoying the music and watching the dancers do their thing.

 This is definitely a hot spot patio happy hour and I recommend coming early to get a table outside. The basement has an additional bar and seating if the patio and dining room are full.

Originally this watering hole was located down on old Pearl Street and the 2006 move to LoHi was a smart one for sure. The view from the patio of downtown Denver is unmatchable while the proximity to the new 16th street pedestrian bridge gives it easy walkability to LoDo and throughout the Highland neighborhood. The area is sprinkled with great places and this restaurant just adds another gold star to LoHi’s list.

Lola is yet another reason to leave work early on Friday afternoon.
