Morrison Colorado is well-known for Red Rocks Amphitheatre which is located 15 minutes from downtown Denver. The acoustic perfection of this natural amphitheatre is created by two 300-foot red sandstone rocks nestled in the foothills outside of Denver, Colorado. The amphitheatre is world-renown for it’s beauty and acoustic bliss. A much less known treat around these hills are the trails that snake through the red sandstone hogback that separates the city of Denver from the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountain Range.
Trail walking, hiking, biking and running are enjoyed by all who are familiar with the splendor of the scenic views, wildlife and fauna. The trails are around 6,200 feet above sea level providing an easy to moderate level walk. Red Rocks park is open daily from 5 am to 11pm but please check the concert schedule before you set out for your Red Rocks adventure because daily events will limit access to most trails. Resist the temptation to climb these soaring red rocks as it is prohibited (and accompanied by a hefty fine).
To get to Red Rocks Park from downtown Denver take I-70 west to Morrison exit 259. Turn left at bottom of the exit ramp and go 1.5 miles to the park entrance on the right.
