If you’re in Denver this weekend then head on down to the Taste of Colorado that’s going on all weekend at Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. As you would expect, local restaurants will be offering “tastes” (for a small fee) of their normal menu and there’s a huge selection to choose from. Over 60 restaurants will have booths set up with everything from Caldonia’s Roadside BBQ and Gelazzi Gelato to The Broker and The Cork House Wine Restaurant over in the fine dining area.
Once you get your fill of food and beverage, stick around for the live music! Dave Mason and local favorites, The Groove Hawgs will be playing on Saturday. For those of you that listen to 103.5 The Fox while you’re driving to work in the morning will be familiar with this band and the founders, Lewis and Floorwax. Lewis and Floorwax used to perform stand up comedy and they now perform with The Groove Hawgs…it should be a really fun show! Another big favorite this year is Brett Michaels, who will be playing on the main stage tonight (Sunday) at 7:30. As many of you know, he’s had a huge surge in popularity after appearing on The Celebrity Apprentice and then suffering a massive brain hemorrhage back in April. From what I’ve heard, he sounds better than ever and will be playing some of his solo tunes as well as old favorites from his big hair band, Poison. And then on Monday, an oldie, but goodie band, The Four Tops will be playing. All that is just a small sampling of the music… there are 3 music stages set up so it’ll be a music filled weekend in downtown Denver.
There are plenty of other activities as well such as chef demonstrations, dance performances and a karaoke stage. There will also be a lot of arts and craft booths and activities set up so bring the whole family and spend the day at Civic Center Park.
Loving Life in Denver!
